The No Kontrol EP, released February 16, 2010 via Funambulist Recording Company, is The Laureates' 3rd effort, preceded by a 7" EP and a full-length album. It was recorded by John Crawford (Paul Cary, Tiger Bones, France Has the Bomb) in Chicago in fits and starts, July through October 2009. This 5-song collection tweaks the vintage rock and roll/pop sound of the band's debut full-length, There Are No More Gentlemen by adding a touch of noise and reverb-ed abandon. While this might be a looser and wilder affair, the songs on the No Kontrol EP still betray their intention to try and melt cold, city hearts.
