While this record follows in the general improvisational footsteps of All Are Welcome, Jon and Ben spent a lot more time working out their ideas and adding/subtracting/scrapping parts or even whole pieces in the studio and on their own. The strong spirit of collaboration definitely carries through on German for Shark, but Jon and Ben were able to develop a new level of depth by exercising more direct control over the entire process, then taking time to work with the original products to build new structures.

To enable further interpretation, four other artists were invited to create remixes of the initial mixes: Anthony Child (Surgeon); Dan Bitney (Tortoise, Bumps); Jim Schoenecker and Jon Minor (Dartanjal); and Charles Rumback and Charles Gorczynski, (Colorlist). Each of these artists added a refreshing and complementary take on the original recordings.
